Kenya’s Moral Police Ezekiel Mutua Appointed New MCSK CEO

-Ezekiel Mutua has been appointed as the new CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK)

-Muli noted that Mutua who is well known as Kenya’s moral police appointment was effective Friday, March 25

Former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua has been appointed as the new CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).

Mutua’s appointment was announced by the MCSK Board Chairperson Lazarus Muli through a statement on Monday, March 28.

In his statement, Muli noted that Mutua who is well known as Kenya’s moral police appointment was effective Friday, March 25.

“Dr. Mutua’s appointment follows rigorous competitive interviews in which he emerged top among the candidates who were interviewed for the position,” read the statement in part.

In his statement, Muli added that they have high hopes in Mutua’s skills and his passion for excellence.

“We have the faith that his passion for excellence, as attested by his exemplary performance in the previous positions he has held, will help us to steer the MCSK to the next level,” read the statement. 

Ezekiel Mutua Tenure as KFCB Boss

Mutua who is well known for his moral advocacy was heading the Kenya Film and Classification Board till August 2021.

During his tenure,  he earned himself the title of Kenya’s ‘moral police’ for criticism of being morally upright.

He was often wrangled in fights with Kenyan content creators, who frequently complained about board censorship since he took over in 2015.
