Samia Suluhu: Tanzania’s President Forfeits Official Seat at Relatives Funeral

Tanzania president Samia Suluhu displayed humility when she attended a close relative’s funeral.
The first in command was captured on video where she forfeited her presidential seat and chose to seat on the floor just like the other mourners.

Samia’s video refusing to take her official seat was first shared on Instagram by Tanzanian blogger, Jay Maudaku.
In the video, the president could be seen walking in rocking a full white Islamic attire and could be heard greeting all those in the room.
“Rais Samia amefika kuhani msiba wa ndugu yake na kuwapa pole wafiwa mjini Unguja leo, ambapo amekataa kiti alichotengewa na kukaa kwenye jamvi kama wafiwa wengine,” wrote Jay Maudaku.

Taking to the blogger’s comment section, netizens could not hide their admiration and kept praising their president.
An Instagram user with the handle @jackimngoni commented:
“Anaejishusha atakwezwa na anaejikweza atashushwa.”
“From Kenya ?? but I admire everything about President Samia ?? she’s such an inspiration.”
“Kweli Islamic its a good religion ona rais amekataa kuketi kwa kiti cz amejua pale ni msibani na yeye akashusha cheo chake kando akaketi kama wengine big up Tanzanian president.”
