David Bennett: World’s First Pig Heart Transplant Recipient Dies 2 Months After Surgery

David Bennett the first man in the world to receive a pig’s heart has died.
Bennet who hails from Hagerstown Maryland died two months after his successful heart transplant.

According to a report by the BBC, the 57-year-old breathed his last on Tuesday, March 8 while receiving treatment at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Reports indicate that Bennett’s situation worsened a few days ago allowing him to survive his terminal illness for only two months.

The deceased’s son praised the hospital for offering the heart experiment, saying the family hoped it would help end the organ shortage.
“We are grateful for every innovative moment, every crazy dream, every sleepless night that went into this historic effort,’ David Bennett Jr,” quoted Daily Mail.
David Bennett’s Heart Surgery
Bennett underwent the life-saving surgery on January 7 2022 and enjoyed the coming weeks with his family.
According to his doctor, the 57-year-old proved to be a brave patient who fought his battle till the end.
“He proved to be a brave and noble patient who fought all the way to the end,” said surgeon Bartley Griffith.
